Governor Uba Sani Swore in the newly elected chairmen of the 23 local governments of Kaduna State. The ceremony was witnessed by the Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Ph.D and the Honorable Minister of Environment, Mal. Balarabe Abbas Lawal.

The ceremony marks a significant milestone in our journey towards transforming Kaduna State and improving the lives and livelihoods of our people. Local Governments play a pivotal role in rural transformation due to their proximity to the people, understanding of local needs, and ability to catalyze development.

The governor charged the chairmen to prioritize the needs of the people, guided by the principles of equity, inclusivity, transparency, and accountability. They are assuming office at a critical time when our people expect a great deal from politicians and leaders. They must ensure that the dividends of democracy are equitably distributed, without prejudice to political affiliation, gender, religious beliefs, or ethnic background.

He further enjoined them to take seriously their responsibility in providing rural infrastructure, boosting agriculture, building and upgrading health centers and primary schools, enhancing economic and social services, and ensuring sustainable natural resource use. They must align with the state government's rural transformation agenda and link up communities not covered by state roads.

At the end he also urged the good people of Kaduna State to hold their local government leaders accountable, demand transparency, participate in the budgeting process, and insist on quality service delivery. Their  engagement with the governance process is crucial to ensuring transparency, accountability, and quality service delivery in the local governments.
