Police Warn Against Violence Ahead of Kaduna Bye-Elections

The Kaduna State Police Command has cautioned residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding during Saturday’s bye-elections, warning that anyone who attempts to disrupt the process will face swift consequences. The Command assured voters that adequate security has been put in place to safeguard lives and property.

Speaking through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the Command said it has credible intelligence that some politicians and their supporters are planning to cause crises during the exercise. “Let it be made abundantly clear that such actions will not be tolerated. Anyone, no matter how highly placed, who engages in violence, intimidation, vote-buying, or thuggery will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement read.
To guarantee order, the Police said it has deployed personnel across polling units, collation centres, flashpoints, and other strategic areas. The operation is in collaboration with sister security agencies, with operatives directed to act firmly, professionally, and without compromise against those who attempt to undermine the elections.
The Commissioner of Police also sent a strong warning to political actors and party loyalists to conduct themselves responsibly. He stressed that the law will deal decisively with anyone who foments trouble or threatens the peaceful conduct of the polls.
Meanwhile, the Command reassured eligible voters in Kaduna that they can turn out in large numbers to cast their votes without fear. With robust security arrangements already in place, authorities say residents should expect a safe and credible electoral process.
