Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has urged the Federal Government to immediately begin the payment of hazard allowance to health workers in the country.
NLC President, Mr Ayuba Wabba made the call at the 2022 annual FCT Nurses Week/Scientific Workshop of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives in Abuja with the theme “Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health.”
Wabba explained that the allowance has been reviewed but payment is yet to begin and stressed that many health workers have fallen victim of diseases in taken care of patients.
The NLC President pointed out that payment of the hazard allowance will boost the morale of health workers in the country
He stated that COVID-19 pandemic, highlighted the invaluable role of nurses and paid tribute to those who died in their bid to curtail the COVID -19 pandemic by preserving.
