KDSG URGES TRADITIONAL RULERS TO SACRIFICE FOR THIER PEOPLE.


The Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe has underscored the importance of traditional institutions to the development of the state, describing them as well revered but shoulder a lot of responsibilities.

Dr Balarabe said this shortly after presenting the staff of office to the new Chief of Barde, Mr Njebi Daniel Lemson, held on Thursday in Barde, Jemaa Local Government Area of the state.

The Deputy Governor challenged the new traditional ruler to bring his wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of his responsibilities so as not to betray the trust of government nor his people.

She reminded him that development can only thrive where there is peace and justice hence, the need for him to be fair and just in all circumstances.

She assured the Royal father of government assistance to ensure that he succeeds in his quest to uphold the customs and traditions of the land.

Earlier,  the state Commissioner Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hajiya Umma Ahmed said the appointment of the Chief was based on merit.

The Commissioner described the task ahead of him, to ensure the comfort of his people as huge,  and urged him to emulate the virtues of his predecessor, late Gagere, who she described as an upright traditional ruler who pursued peace at all times.

In his response, the installed Chief, Mr. Njebi Daniel Lemson thanked the Kaduna state government for considering him worthy to occupy the throne.

He requested the state government to among other requests, look into the possibility of upgrading the Barde Market to an ultra modern market, considering it's strategic location to boost the revenue drive of the state and local government.

It would be recalled that the former Chief of Barde, late Sako Gajere died last year after a brief illness.
