The Kaduna state chapter of the Academic staff union of Secondary school Teachers of Nigeria ASUSS has joined their colleagues across the globe in commemorating the 2023 World Teachers Day Celebration with a call for harmonious Government-Union relationship.

The 2023 World Teacher Day celebration with a theme "The Teachers We Need for The Education We Want" brought together all members from across the 23 local Government areas of Kaduna state for lecture presentation held in Kaduna. Speaking at the event the Chairman Kaduna state Chapter of Academic Staff Union of Secondary School Teachers Comrade Ishaya Kantoma Dauda observed that adjustment must be made in certain basic areas so as to improve the quality of education and better service delivery.

He enumerated areas to Teacher/Government relationship, the welfare of teachers which has direct impacts on their respective families, approval of Sixty-five/ Forty years harmonized retirement age fir tutors as approved by the federal government.

Other areas the union frowned at includes provision of adequate security in and around schools to safe guard the lives of both students and teachers, construction of more schools and classes as well as renovation of the existing structures to stand the taste of time.

The Chairman therefore appealed to Kaduna state government to liaise with all relevant stakeholders on security for advice on how to end the menace.
