Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency commits to prevent incidents of flooding in the state


Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency KADSEMA, has reiterated commitment to prioritize strengthening preventive measures as against responding to emergencies to curtail the loss of lives and property of residents in the state.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Mallam Usman Hayatu Mazadu stated this during a media briefing in Kaduna, following the occurrence of flood resulting from the overflow of rivers in the state.
He said the agency in a bid to exercise its mandate of preventing emergency cases have had close interactions with people living in the flood prone areas to enlighten them on the dangers especially during the rainy season.
Mallam Usman Mazadu further expressed concern over the non-compliance of residents in the flood prone areas to government early warnings and the unprofessional building of structures on water ways.
While speaking on the importance of synergy in combating the menace of flooding in the state, he enjoined all stakeholders especially the media to contribute their quota in creating more awareness on the dangers of flood to complement government efforts in that direction.
The flood which has discomforted many people, affected areas such as Kigo road in Kabala Coastain, Bashama road in Tudun Wada, Rahama road in Unguwan Rimi, Nasarawa and Malali/ Unguwan Dosa axis.
