KadunaState government in conjunction with the United Nations Women for peace and security, is working towards promoting and ensuring sustainable peace and security in the State.
The Kaduna State Commissioner for Human Services and Social development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu said this when she led a delegation from her ministry on an advocacy visit to the executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ kaduna State Council.
The commissioner noted that each time there is crisis women and children are the more vulnerable to the negative effects of conflicts, and this vulnerability is always their source of strength and conviction to be managers of violence situation.
She said arrangements heve been completed to launch the Kaduna State Action Plan KADSAP 2, before the year runs out to address Insecurity and conflicts across the State.
Hajia Rabi said the advocacy is to seek collaboration and support of the media towards the successful implementation of the KADSAP 2 for the maximum results.
The commissioner lamented that inspite of government, and other CSOs efforts women and girls especially those in captivity, continue to be raped, sexually assaulted and forced into marriages by their captives.
Responding, the NUJ chairman, Hajiya Asma'u Yawo Halilu who was represented by the Vice chairman, Daniel Duniya thanked the commissioner for the visit, promising that journalists will give the programme the much needed publicity, because peace is paramount.
